Kieran and Emery,
Your Mom and I go way back, all the way to our nursing days, when we were learning, laughing and getting each other through long shifts. Somewhere along the way, I introduced her to your Dad. (Yes, I’m taking full credit for that one!) They fell in love and got married, and then came the two of you, my god babies. I’ve had a front-row seat to every chapter of your little lives, and this evening is up there as one of my favorite memories with you.
We started in the place we call Bay Field, a sea of golden wildflowers taller than you, Emery! The two of you took off down that path hand in hand. Emery, your hair was flying behind you. Kieran, you kept looking back at your sister with the biggest grin. I couldn’t stop smiling behind my camera. Your Mom and Dad soaked up every second, and you can see how much they love you in every single photo.
Then we headed to Huntington Beach in Bay Village just as the sun was setting over Lake Erie. You kicked off your shoes, ran into the waves and splashed along the shore like you owned the whole beach. And then you shared the sweetest forehead-to-forehead moment, one I’ll treasure forever. Someday, when you’re all grown up, I hope you look at these and remember how much you loved each other right here, right now.
Kieran and Emery, watching you grow is one of the greatest gifts of my life. Thank you for letting me tag along on your adventures, and thank you to your Mom and Dad for trusting me with your story, year after year. I love you all more than words can say.
