Aubrey, we got the whole fam out to celebrate you going into your senior year of high school! We know that things look a little different this year than we expected it to, and we know that things have been a LOT different than they were last year, but that doesnβt diminish your accomplishments or diminish the amount of love and support your family holds for you. Weβve all been where you are right now before — unsure of how steady the earth is beneath your feet, and a little bit unsure of where you want to go next (maybe college in California???) — and while none of us expected it would look like this, we all know that youβre going to make it through just fine.
Online classes are hard to adjust to, and thereβs a lot of change going on in the world right now. Maybe you like the online classes better (hey, no one has to know if you donβt change out of your pajama pantsβ¦) and maybe thereβs parts of high school that you really miss. As you adjust and maintain your course, weβre going to adjust with you. Your mom and dad are here to help you figure out how to change your background in Zoom if you want; your friends and classmates are still reading the same PDF novels as you are (man, and Wuthering Heights was hard to get through in book form!). Just because your support looks a little bit different doesnβt mean that itβs not there.
And remember, Aubrey, that this is still your time. Youβre going to learn so much and grow into such an amazing, flexible, lighthearted human after all of this is said in done. Because, letβs be real — if you can finish high school during a pandemic, thereβs nothing you canβt do. We at BGP, and the rest of your family, canβt wait to see what you grow to accomplish and where you go. Remember to let us take a photo or two before you head off to Cali — we need a βbeforeβ shot so we can say βwe knew her whenβ¦.β
